Buying

Find something you like, message the seller with any questions, then choose Buy now with Porchlight Pay on the listing. Some sellers offer delivery for the fee shown on their listing; otherwise you arrange a pickup with the seller.

Porchlight Pay

Porchlight Pay holds your money until you confirm you got the item. You can pay with a card saved to your account or add another card at checkout.

Selling

Free to list. Add a title, price, condition and description, say which neighborhood you're in, and choose how the handoff works: pickup, delivery or either.

Messages

Buyers and sellers talk through Porchlight messages. Buyers message you through Porchlight; we never share your number.

Meeting up safely

• Meet somewhere public and well lit when you can, or have a friend with you for bigger items.
• Keep the conversation on Porchlight messages.
• Look the item over before you confirm you got it.

Privacy

We collect what you give us when you use Porchlight (your name, contact details, listings, messages and payment details) and basic information about how you use the site. We use it to run the marketplace, process payments, keep accounts secure and help when something goes wrong.

We don't sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run Porchlight, or when the law requires it. Other members see your first name, last initial and neighborhood, never your phone number.

You can ask us for a copy of your information, or ask us to correct or delete it, by writing to the address below.

Terms of use

Porchlight is a place for neighbors to buy and sell. Sellers are responsible for their listings and buyers and sellers deal with each other directly. Describe items honestly and only list things you own and are allowed to sell. Don't list anything illegal, recalled or unsafe.

We may remove listings or close accounts that break these rules. By using Porchlight you agree to these terms.
